Fort  Belvoir Tech Expo Important Info and Directions:

On March 7th, 2012 you will be attending a GovConectx Tech Expo at Fort Belvoir. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your participation in this event.

Fort Belvoir is home to over 140 tenants including:

2 Army major command headquarters,

10 different Army major commands,

19 different agencies of the Department of  Army,

8 elements of the U.S. Army Reserve and the Army National Guard

26 DoD agencies.

1 U.S. Navy construction battalion,

1 Marine Corps detachment,

1 U.S. Air Force activity, and

1 agency from the Department of the Treasury."

We have been conducting this event twice a year for the past 6 years A key lesson that we have learned is that “It’s all about networking”. This event is attended by many of the tenants. Just because someone is not working in an area that uses your product/service, doesn’t mean that they can’t lead you to your target. Talk to everyone!

Plan on making one or two key contacts at the event that you can develop over time.

While on Base,

  • Pick up base/agency phone books and base/agency newspapers to get the latest information about potential buying activities and contact info.

  • Network with the other vendors for teaming partners, ideas to emulate and intelligence on your competitors. There may be critical synergy between your company’s offerings and another vendor’s.

  • Invite any contacts you have at the facility to the event and specifically to visit your table

  • Research the agency web site,

  • Read up on current activities and

  • Call ahead to key contacts like small business staff, contracting, etc. of your target agencies

  • You can’t be un-informed and expect to succeed in Government sales. It is in your best interest to see where your product/service fits with the agency.

Remember, it will most likely take more than one event, or one sales call to sell your product/service.

We look forward to seeing you there!
